I woke up on Friday and decided to have a ‘yes’ day. Some of you may know what that is, others may not, so here is a quick explanation. You are supposed to schedule a day a head of time and let your kids know that you will be saying ‘yes’ to all their requests. I did this ‘yes’ day a little different. I decided to keep it to myself. I was going to say ‘yes’ all day, but they weren’t getting the heads up. I was expecting to have a great blog for y’all after this experience full of crazy. What happened wasn’t crazy at all!
I learned that my kids are pretty easy to please. I learned that I need to say ‘yes’ more! They were so happy and we had an amazing day. They fought less, they were more kind to one another than I had seen in a while, and we made memories. I saw the kids sacrifice for each other. At one point Karsin ended up barefoot on hot concrete and before I could pick her up Keyton gave her his flip flops and then Coen gave Keyton his. It wasn’t much, but it was done on their own and that makes my heart happy. I got to witness the joy on their faces as they each made selections at a vending machine. Crazy, but I think this was the first time we had used one. We had chocolate covered strawberries after dinner and they got to eat oreos and milk in their room after they had already gotten ready for bed. They didn’t wake up with mouths full of rotten teeth either!
I think I will be doing these ‘yes’ days more often. Hey, maybe I will ever get brave enough to let them know a head of time.
How Fun is that!!! I never thought of trying that when my girls were younger – but I hope we can do that we are grandkids!!

Love this! I think if you had told them about “yes” day you probably would have gotten a few crazy requests. At least I’m pretty sure that’s what my boys would have done.

That’s why I’m not sure if I’m brave enough for a planned ‘yes’ day!
