I’m Back

Some of you may have wondered why I have been so quiet on my blog. Well, this post won’t be inspirational or full of deep thoughts. It will be more of a ‘bring you up to speed’ post. Last Monday, Cody informed me, with NO notice that we would be leaving Arlington early due to some travel plans he had for work and the unknown path of Florence. We knew that it was not likely that Florence would cause any issues for us, but he couldn’t take that chance with him having to be gone. We came back to Eden so he could have piece of mind while he was away.

I have to admit, after my last post, I gave in!, I was a little annoyed. Don’t get me wrong, I was happy to return to my family and friends, but I felt like I had just started making progress in my attitude about being there. I often don’t understand the path that God has us on, but I do my best to follow along. I spent all day Tuesday packing and fighting these feelings and we headed West on Wednesday mid morning. The kids were determined that we keep it secret so that we could surprise everyone! Of coarse we had to tell a few people so they wouldn’t worry.  The closer we got to Eden the more excited we all grew!  Coming into town on Friday and surprising everyone was AMAZING! I had no idea it would go that well. I honestly thought, “We really haven’t been gone that long. We couldn’t have been missed that much.” but maybe I was wrong. The last 15 weeks have been amazing. We were able to experience and see so many great things, but it was long. My kids were trapped in a 2 bedroom apartment in the middle of Arlington, VA. They are country to the core and not being able to roam around on their own was hard on all of us.

As soon as we got to town, we started with the ‘guess who’s back’ messages. It was so fun to see everyone’s reactions and to be welcomed back with such love. I still have a little unpacking to do. I have to admit I am surprised that it has taken me 6 days to unpack what only took us a day to pack and load up! It is worth it though to be back HOME!
